The way you sleep can be a passive-aggressive way to say what your heart feels at that moment.
Sleeping together with your partner is not just about sex or how much of the blanket and quilt you hug on the bed. More often than not, it can be a silent signal of your satisfaction or vice versa with your bed partner. Due to the fact that your subconscious mind controls the way you sleep with your partner, your sleeping body language can be an amazingly accurate way to assess what's going on in your relationship even if you don't articulate those things while you're awake.
Although, different sleeping positions could be a silent indicator of trouble, there are always exceptions. A couple’s sleeping style could be due to contributing factors such as a partner’s snoring, kicking, unpleasant body odour, hot weather ( at least we can relate with that in Nigeria at the moment) and so on.
The key issue here is, if you have a couple who used to cuddling and snuggling but are now drifting further apart in bed, then that could be symptomatic of them growing apart when they are awake.
Therefore, when you or your partner's sleeping position suddenly changes, use these clues to decode what it means:
Little Spoon
This is more like making eye contact with each other while you sleep. It is more intimate if he thrusts his pelvis into her.
What it means: I missed you or I am hungry for you.
Big Spoon
Here the partner envelops you in a way that he/she is shielding or protecting you.
What it means: I am very possessive about you.
Sleeping A Few Inches
Apart Expect this sleep position after a few months into marriage. Here you partner is still very protective about you, but also wants to sleep more comfortably.
What it means: I've got your back.
Head On His Chest
This sleep position reaffirms trust and confidence.
What it means: I am powerful to protect you. OR I depend on you.
Sleeping On The Stomach
This position indicates that either of the partners is lacking sexual trust or is very anxious or afraid. The best solution is to talk it out and cosy up.
What it means: I don’t want to face it. OR I am very anxious.
Sleeping On Either Side Of The Bed
This is a very independent sleep position where one respects his/her sleep more. But this doesn’t mean the couple is not in love or don’t care for each other. A lot of couples snuggle, have sex and then drift apart to get good sleep without interruptions. But in case you are a snugly sleeper, sleeping apart can signify danger or a red flag. Experts believe that it is better to time your snuggle before you're sound sleep or before getting out of bed. This will encourage better sleep.
What it means: I love you but I also love my sleep.
Butt Touching
It indicates that you still love each other and are sexually attracted, but also respect each other’s space. This can also signify snoring problems between the couple.
What it means: I love you and I love my space
Sleeping With Your Arms And Legs Crossed
This is a highly sexual sleep position that indicates that you are madly, crazily and truly in love with your partner and that you complete each other’s worlds.
What it means: I can’t get enough of you.
