What To Consider When Choosing Your Cake

You are planning your wedding. You begin to tick off your to-do list and the next thing on your list is:

Cake! Cake!! Cake!!!

It is one of the important parts of a wedding reception, as the couples go through the ritual of cutting the cake together and feeding each other. To have the perfect cake experience at your wedding, here are things you need to put into consideration when choosing your cake.

  • Finances

You need to bake your cake according to your pocket. Don’t live the 'Cake American Dream' all because you want to wow and please your guests. Have it at the back of your mind that a  well-designed simple cake is better than an impression of a sophisticated cake that looks and tastes terrible.

If you’d like to have a perfect mammoth-sized cake for your wedding, then you have to make a proper budget for it.

  • Baker of your dreams

Once you solicit the services of an adept baker then there will be no problem or difficulties in having your cake dream come alive. It will be so easy.

  • Taste Your Cake-to-be

You have to schedule a tasting session with your baker and have a go at different types of cake before making a decision. Many do not have the time for a tasting, they just trust the baker and take whatever comes to them on the wedding day. You have to be involved and familiarise yourself with the whole process as that is the moment you get to decide on what type of flavour you desire.

  • Cake Specifications

After your tasting, you have to pick a design that goes with the theme of your wedding or a reflection of yourself and your partner.

The season or weather will also be put into account when deciding on the type of frostings you want; fondants are perfect for warm weather as the buttercream is the best for cold weather.

You also have to request the right size of cake; let your baker know the number of your guest to make sure the cake is enough. The venue should also be considered when baking your cake because you cannot have a cake that looks the size of a skyscraper in a bungalow hall with low ceilings.

  • Delivery

Make sure you get yourself a true-to-the-word baker that will deliver the cake a day or two to the wedding. Do not wait until the day of the wedding. Time and means of delivery are very key.

With all of these sorted out, be ready to have a fantastic cake experience at your wedding.
