5 Ways To Tell If You Are Financially Compatible With Your Partner

There is so much required to have a healthy relationship apart from emotional or physical chemistry.

It is important that we take every aspect of our lives into consideration when we are making a decision on who to marry.

One of those decisions is to find out if you and your partner are financially compatible as money is said to be one of the top 5 subjects that causes a fight in the first 5 years of the marriage for most couples.

You have to make sure you and your partner are on the same page as regards finances, and all topics related to it or you will be arguing about it every week when you are married.

Here are ways to tell you are both financially compatible.

1. Create a budget.

This is one of the easiest ways to tell if you and your partner are financially compatible. Once your relationship evolves to a point, start sharing expenses to help you see how you work towards achieving a goal.

You will be able to tell how serious or unserious they take their financial life or responsibilities. And you can tell if its what you can deal with or not.

2. Observe if they are a spender or a saver.

A spender is someone who always looks out to buy new things, visit the most expensive restaurants, wants a vacation every time and so on. While a saver is simply prudent, they are more into investing than spending.

Although opposites can make things work, you must be able to tell how much the other person is ready to adjust who they are in order to accommodate you.

3. If you can’t agree on anything financially.

If you and your partner are constantly arguing about what the other person is spending on or how the other person doesn’t want to spend, there might be a problem.

It’s normal to have occasional misunderstandings as regards financial choices, but if your partner can’t stand your financial decisions, that might be a sign you are both not financially compatible.

4. Are they investing in you?

Saving is a good thing, however, if your partner is always talking about saving and never invests in you and your future together, there is a big problem.

You should have this discussion with them and see how they react. If you both can’t make a decision to invest in your future as a team, be cautious.

5. Talk about your income and expenditure.

There are so many people getting married to people they are not sure about their finances. They don’t know if they are in debt or not.

If you discuss this and share the truth, you will be able to tell how they live their lives and their concept and attitude towards their finances.
