Baby Naming Ceremony Checklist

A naming ceremony is a way to mark your baby’s arrival without a religious ceremony.

With different culture are different timing to as when this is held and in fact, if it is at all. 

Although there are no set rules or formats, and it’s entirely up to you what direction the naming ceremony will take, but like every party, there is some basic checklist. 

A checklist is a list of items required, things to be done, or points to be considered, used as a reminder.

So, here is a checklist (in no particular order) of basically almost everything you will need to prepare for a successful baby naming ceremony.

1. Choose a date and time.

2. Decide on the venue.

3. Choose the Godparents or Guide Parents.

4. Decide which relatives or friends you want to perform particular roles on that day. 

5. Write out baby names.

6. Conclude on the guests list.

7. Send out invites.

8. Discuss and agree on the cultural/traditional symbols you will like to include. 

9. Select ceremony style.

10. Choose poems, readings or quotes

11. Choose a clear theme 

12. Decide on food, music, entertainment and everything else in between catering for your guests.

13. Book major vendors.

14. Confirm all vendors booked. 

15. Clean the house. 

16. Decide if you will be having a party afterwards and where it will be. 

17. Add personal touches that will remind you it’s about you. 

18. Pick up what the baby will wear.

19. Pick up what you will wear as parents. 

20. Get a gift list ready.

21. Decide on who is leading the ceremony.

22. Decide if you want a cake, if yes, make the call now.

23. Who is recording the ceremony? A video recorder is essential. 

24. Plan activities for the kids attending. 

25. Delegate task for the day.

26. Order your party favors.

27. Have fun.
