6 Effective Tips for Losing Weight before Your Wedding

A wedding date is a big motivating factor for many people to try to lose weight. You want to look and feel your best for your wedding; it’s natural. For many couples, stress makes them put on weight unplanned. Sometimes, it’s just the extra weight you have had over time and you would like to shed some of it for your wedding. Many brides take extreme measures to lose weight, most of which are very unhealthy and hazardous to their physical and emotional wellbeing. Many others are not able to achieve their weight loss goals. If you want simple effective tips, you’re in the right place. Here are 6 sure ways to lose weight for your wedding.

Start Now

Yes, now. Not tomorrow or next week. The sooner you start, the more likely you are to achieve those goals. Losing weight doesn’t happen overnight (that’s not even healthy), so make the commitment right now to eat right and work out from today onwards.

Get a Fitness Plan

Find one that suits you. Do you want to be able to eat your favourite local foods and still lose weight? Is the gym not practical for you? There are some effective fitness plans for your peculiar needs. Search the internet or get feedback from people who used plans. A good fitness plan is developed by someone who’s certified in fitness and nutrition. It tells you exactly what to eat and provides recipes; the exercises to do and when; as well as how much you should expect to lose on that regimen. That way, it’s safe and takes the stress off trying (and failing) to figure it all out on your own.

Watch Out! That’s a lot of food!

You may have to sample different meals from the caterers serving your guests. It’s best that you have these meals in very small portions. A little here and a little there is sure to fill you up. However, avoid any fatty food; if you’re having any, remember that small portions are best. Also, try not to have ‘’so many small portions’’ you may end up adding even way more. You don’t want “tasting” to spoil all the work you’re doing on your fitness plan.

Work Out

Do not underestimate the importance of exercises. A long walk, a thirty-minute run or other cardiovascular exercise just three times a week will do a lot to keep you fit and help you lose weight. You can do more than three times for more effect; even twice a day-just don’t do it every single day. Have at least one rest day a week. If you overdo it, you may end up getting an injury and end up witnessing your wedding from a hospital bed.

Do a water challenge.

Water challenges get you to increase your water intake. If you find water boring, you can add fruits like lemon, oranges and watermelon to make it more pleasant and add some detox power. Even a little honey can make water more palatable. Staying very hydrated will keep you fuller and refreshed for longer so you’ll eat less. Avoid soft drinks and alcohol, especially beer, because it will make you bloated and it takes longer to digest.

Get Healthy Snacks

Fruit and vegetable smoothies;  low fat yoghurt; a handful of nuts; oven baked vegetable chips e.g. beetroot chips; cucumber, carrot and tomato slices with suya pepper are all examples of healthy snacks you can have if you feel a bit hungry between meals. It’s not always realistic to expect that you’ll always be satisfied with three small meals. Having healthy snacks around means you won’t be stopping for cake slices, ice cream or fries when the hunger hits.

We know you’ll look like a million bucks in that wedding dress!
