Couples may be completely clueless about certain formalities because they just want their big day to run smoothly so they can put it behind them. In this process of over contemplation, they tend to miss out on small details and peculiarities. Here are seven wedding questions you didn’t know to ask:

  • Who is responsible for transporting the wedding party?

Usually, the couple is responsible for transporting the wedding party; most people order special transportation for this. However, to cut costs, some wedding parties transport themselves to the wedding.

  • Does the bride wear her engagement ring during the wedding ceremony?

Sometimes the bride wears her engagement ring on another finger until after the ceremony or not at all. During some Nigerian Traditional weddings, the bride actually removes her ring so that the husband can place it on again as part of the union rites.

  • Who will help the bride during toilet visits?

The answer to this is as a result of planning and delegation. Delegate this job to a close family member, your maid of honour or someone from your bridal wardrobe team.

  • Are you allowed the first kiss after being pronounced Man and Wife?

This depends on the nature of the actual union; different religions and denominations of those allow for different practices. For example, couples do not kiss after this pronouncement in the Catholic Church but it is permitted in some Protestant churches.

  • When should the bride change after the ceremony?

In this part of the world, brides tend to change multiple times; good times to change are after your church ceremony or after your main reception so you can boogie down in your reception outfit.

  • How do you greet all guests at your wedding?

This should happen naturally and not systematically. Naturally in the sense that you move around the reception and engage in your greetings rather than having guests lineup to say hello at your table.

  • When should you change your shoes during the reception?

This is always a huge problem for the bride. Wearing heels from morning till evening can be a whole lot of work especially with all the dancing during traditional and white wedding ceremonies and receptions. A good time to change from heels to flat shoes is after any ceremonial aspects of the event like cutting the wedding cake and the first dance. Changing just before you step into your after-party is also a wise idea.
