Five months may be a short period to plan a wedding especially if it’s an extravagant one, but it’s a very achievable goal if you draw out a plan and stick to it.
This means no going back on decisions that have already been made to ensure your milestones are met.
Here is a suggested timeline of deliverables you can incorporate into your 5-month wedding plan:
- 5 months
Determine your budget: The first thing to do is to highlight the things that must be purchased or special services that you want mapped out for the day. For example, your hair stylist, make up artist and entertainment vendors are crucial to the success of your wedding look and reception.
Engage Wedding Planner: This is one of the first things to do if you are not planning the wedding by yourself.
Choose your venue: Venues may be taken up, so it's wise to book in advance to reserve the spot; this will depend on how many guests you expect at your wedding.
Bridal Wardrobe: Choose all your wedding outfits on time and get them made before your tailor starts to disappoint, otherwise hire a bridal stylist to get this line-up ready for you while you attend to other tasks.
- 4 months
Pre-Wedding Shoot: Its picture time! Your one chance to take cheesy romantic pictures is here so take it.
Draw up a Guestlist: Pick all the people who you think absolutely have to be at your wedding and extend invitations to them on time.
Save The Date: Even if you haven’t established every single detail at this point, let people know what dates they should be around for you.
Establish a Bridal Party: Your bridal party should embrace their fate in advance because this involves financial planning and logistics.
- 3 months
Engage Other Vendors: The other vendors to be used for your cocktail and wedding reception, floral arrangements and decorators can be finalised at this point.
Wedding Bands: What kind of ring do you want to place on your significant other’s finger?
- 2 months
Menu and Cake Tasting: Taste food and desserts from different vendors to make sure it's up to your standard.
Honeymoon Planning: You will need that break after all this!
Send Invitations: Make sure all your family and friends get their access cards and invitations in advance.
- 1 month
Hair and Makeup Trials: Its time to make sure your initial choice of hair stylists and makeup artists actually understand the look you are going for; now is the time to find back up if you foresee disappointment.
Pack Your Bags: Ensure you have all your wedding outfits sorted including those little shiny slippers you dance with at the afterparty! Also, pack your honeymoon wardrobe a couple of weeks ahead, so you don’t forget anything.
Go Through Checklist: Dot your I’s and cross your t’s!
They say you should only stay engaged for as long as it takes to plan the wedding, are you ready for this?
