Your wedding ceremony can be an extremely beautiful experience. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to have family, friends and other well-wishers all together in one place to celebrate with you and your spouse.
But what happens when you’re so anxious on your big day that you cannot think of anything else?
It’s very Normal
Don’t freak out it’s perfectly normal. Your wedding is a life-changing experience and you’ll be having all the people you’ve ever known in one room. So it’s fine if you feel anxious.
Have Conversations With Your Spouse
If you’re anxious earlier in the day, talking to your partner about how you feel helps. This will help calm you a lot more and remind you that you're not alone.
Take a Short Walk
Everything else can wait. Give an excuse to step out with your spouse early in the day for a short walk as they can help relieve you of your anxiety. Take the moment while walking, to reminisce past beautiful events. You don’t even need to converse with your partner. Just walk.
Remember This Is Your Day
As much as you may feel pressured because you have all your best people around, change the narrative. Remember it’s your big day, put in all the positivity and understand that you’re in control. Telling yourself this can give you the calmness you need to get by for the day.
Take A Break When It’s Too Overwhelming
It’s okay to step away from the party for a while. Take as many deep breaths as you can to calm you. Trust us, your guests would be fine while you’re away.
Remove Unnecessary Details
It’s a given that you’ll be in the spotlight from time to time. For instance, the father and daughter dance. However, if you’re getting overwhelmed by what’s planned out for the day, you can cancel it.
You don’t have to do the grand entrance or the choreographed dance. You can get your bridesmaids and groomsmen to handle this instead.
Give an Excuse
You may be swarmed by a number of guests who are excited and want to have small conversations with you. You can get a friend or family member who can step in so you can leave quickly.
Your guests will understand that you’re working with a timeframe so you can easily excuse yourself without hurting anyone’s feelings.
Anxiety, when it isn’t properly managed, can be terrifyingly overwhelming. So do what it takes to get yourself back on track. It is very relieving!
