Getting engaged to the love of your life can simultaneously be beautiful and unbelievable. After this, it means you have to start preparing for a wedding. Right before it gets overwhelming, take your time to do these five things as soon as you can:
1. Set a budget
This is one of the first things you should do. Preparing a budget gives insights on how you would want your wedding to be. The budget will also determine the number of guests you will be inviting.
In other cases, it helps reduce your chances of incurring debts and protects you from making last-minute decisions.
2. Make an announcement
An official announcement would mean your family and your spouse's family are up for a proper introduction.
Traditionally, an introduction is the next step to show that you’re serious about getting married. Set up a time where you and your partner's family can meet up and have conversations about the wedding.
3. Prepare your guest list
Before everything gets too fuzzy, draft down a list of guests you will be inviting. This list defines the kind of venue you get, the amount of food you will be making and on some occasions, the size of your cake.
While it is not expected that you have everyone on the list immediately, it is best to keep updating and set a deadline to draw the line. For starters, make sure you list your most important people first and check out their availability for the month of your wedding. After this is properly done, you can proceed to the next step.
4. Check out venues
You should start your research on venues before choosing a date. More often than not, choosing the right venue for your wedding can be a hassle.
Make sure that you make your bookings on time. While you may not have chosen a date, you may have a month you’re aiming. Always make venue research months before your preferred month. After finding the right spot, you can then show your interests.
5. Choose your most preferred date
After you have worked out the availability of your venue, you can then pick a date within the most preferred month to have your wedding. Try to avoid choosing a month too close that you start to rush your wedding plans. Take your time and you'll be very happy that you did.
