A-line and Empire Gowns

You can have your tailor make a custom A-line or Empire shaped gown for your wedding. These gowns have been confirmed to be a pregnant bride’s best friend as they conceal the bump under flowing, breeze fabric.

Nowadays, timing isn’t as traditional as it used to be; Dating – Courtship – Marriage – Baby. More and more brides are getting married while pregnant and there are many reasons why a bride would want to minimize her baby bump for her wedding day. Some brides would also rather not tell until after the wedding. Many brides would prefer to go through the traditional timing or at least pretend to be! Some would rather keep the focus on themselves and off the baby bump for this one day. Or they just don’t want it noticed in the wedding pictures. There’s also the fact that some religious institutions would not allow marriage in their building once it’s confirmed you are pregnant before your wedding. Whatever your reason, here are some simple ways you can hide your baby bump at your wedding as well as in pictures:

Get comfortable underwear

Not only should they be comfortable, they should be able to hide your baby bump very comfortably. Try getting a pair of leggings that will make your tummy look slimmer while you’re wearing your gown. A pair of spanx can also do the trick. It might be a bit uncomfortable but should never be too tight or suffocating.

Do a Traditional Wedding

There may be a few raised eyebrows if you do only traditional wedding, but you can convince your people from the onset that it’s the only wedding ceremony you ever want. Why do we impose two separate weddings on ourselves anyway? Certain traditional dresses are great at hiding baby bumps so you wouldn’t have to worry about revealing something. The double wrappers of the Igbos and the draped asooke of the Yorubas are perfect for this! Not to mention the accessories: big feathered purse, fan or horsetail that you can hide your belly behind.

Use Your Man!

You most likely had to decide every little detail of the wedding during planning, as well as your entire look. It’s not easy being a bride. Finally the groom can make himself useful as a picture prop for hiding your baby bump. After all, you made this baby together. Turn away from the camera and grasp him lovingly while hiding the bumb behind his body. That’s it; Picture Perfect.

Give the "diet " excuse

When you have to join your friends during your reception for cocktails or shots and you’re the only one not drinking, tell them you’re on a super strict diet and your trainer has forbidden alcohol. As it is usual for brides to have crazy diets before their wedding, this will work as a grand excuse.

Wear a minimizer bra

The minimizer bra would help reduce your bustline thereby drawing away any attention from your torso. Also, you can try wearing a square top, scoop or halter gown if you intend to create an illusion of smaller cups. It will most certainly do the trick as you wouldn’t need to worry about any suspicious looks.

Now, you can say cheese!
