The great Gatsby theme is gaining popularity with bridal showers and even shopping parties. If you have never planned a Great Gatsby themed party, here are seven (7) ideas that you may find useful:
Invitations
Set the tone with special hand-made invitations written and addressed to the recipient in cursive gold writing. Alternatively you can buy cards with geometric lines, arches or golden accents.
Venue Décor
The venue can be decorated with these:
- Feathers arranged alone or incorporated in a floral arrangement
- Gold fabric draping from the ceiling
- Pearls and crystals draping from chairs or incorporated into a table centre-piece
- White, pink or peach flowers arranged in vases or any suitable arrangement
- Gold or metallic Chandeliers
20’s Inspired Posters
Posters from 1920s theatre, arts and film can be placed on the walls of the venue.
Gramophone Speaker
In the absence of a traditional gramophone, a modern day (Bluetooth) gramophone can be used to play music from the 1920s
Relevant Entertainment
Entertainment reminiscent of this era will be quite expensive yet memorable! Such entertainment includes acrobats, fire breathers, aerial gymnasts and even a live jazz band.
Food and Drinks Menu
Canapés and elegantly presented finger food are all you need for a Great Gatsby themed party. For drinks, don’t forget champagne, champagne and more champagne because Joe Gatsby never ran out of champagne! Alternatively, champagne cocktails may be preferred by a few of your guests.
1920’s Glamour
Costumes worn should be inspired by the 1920’s style which was full of glamour and exaggeration. Dresses from this era used a lot of sequins, frills, beads, fringes and tiered tops. Ladies can also wear accessories like feathered fascinators, pearls, elbow length gloves and masquerade masks with glittery makeup to accentuate the look of “glamour”. Men would fit right into the party with a double-breasted suit, a nice hat and cane.
Have fun putting together your great Gatsby themed party!
