5 Things We Loved about Fatima Dangote’s Wedding

Elegant Simplicity

Sometimes, less is actually more. Kudos to Fatima’s bridal stylist because all the outfits she wore depicted her as a stylish, elegant bride; nothing was overwhelming at all. There is the tendency to believe that because one is of a certain background, one must drip in opulence. But the beauty of all Fatima's outfits shone through with the material quality and simple dress styles.

How do you shut down Lagos on a Friday? Get married at Eko Hotel to Fatima Dangote!

Fatima Dangote, daughter of the richest man in Africa, got married to her beau Jamil Abubakar, a pilot and son of former Inspector General of Police. As is the custom with Northern weddings, it took place over a number of days in March- in Abuja, Kano and finally Lagos for the white wedding. Many couldn’t get over the bourgeoisie conglomerate that attended the union, but we simply cannot forget about these five things. Take a look:

Matching Cake and Dress

Just take a look at this picture; A LITTLE CLOSER! Did anyone miss out on the matching floral detail on Fatima Dangote’s dress and her tiered wedding cake? The cake had a crown of flowers while Fatima donned a lacey turban with some floral detail to match her white reception dress.

Bridesmaids in Blue

To be honest, not so many people opt for this shade of blue for their bridesmaids’ dresses. The fact that this shade of blue was pulled off instead of a lighter or pastel colours is just awesome. Going against the norm makes a statement. These dresses are the true definition of elegant simplicity as the creative detailing was centred on their turbans. Also, deep blue depicts royalty!

Mommy Moment

Mother-daughter moments are truly special. This tender kiss from Fatima’s mom was caught on camera and warmed our hearts. There’s just nothing like Mother’s love.

Love

At Sugar Weddings, we are in love with love itself. Can you beat this look that Jamil gives Fatima? This look is everything, you can tell that she has made him one happy man. Top tip for the day: marry a guy that looks at you like Jamil looks at Fatima.

We wish we could be there but we lived vicariously through social media with popcorn and our own stately blue ensemble!
