15 Nigerian Love Songs for Your Wedding Playlist

The music dictates the ‘spirit’ of any party, and for a wedding, the song selection definitely has a huge impact on the mood of the guests and for the couple. Nigerian wedding songs are top of the list for making any wedding dancefloor come alive. From dancing in with the bridal party, to the couple’s first dance; to the dance with the parents and the guest dance-off, there is a Nigerian song for everything.

Here are our top 15 Nigerian love songs for a wedding playlist.

Iyawo Mi by Timi Dakolo
This song is one of my favorite Nigerian love songs of all time, especially as a first dance song option. The lyrics capture the heart of the man and helps the woman absorb the love in the atmosphere.

I also think it helps put into perspective for the man, the ‘miracle’ he just gained.

Lyrics to the chorus:
Iyawo mi (My Wife)
Ololufe Mi (My Lover)
Ore mi (My friend)
Alayo mi (One who brings me joy)
I will love you forever

Made for You by Banky W
This song and the story behind it already creates a mood that screams love. I am not sure the ‘awwwwww’ will end if this song is played and couple sing and dance with each other.

Lyrics to the chorus:
Baby I was made for you
I was made for you
As you were made for me
Baby can’t you see
That I was made for
I was made for you
That you were made for me
Baby can’t you see
That I was made for

Today Today by Eldee
I am already dancing to this jam, singing it in my head. It’s a jam and a half.

It takes the adrenaline a notch higher, because it is a realization that you both are returning back a couple and not as the single that started the day.

Lyrics to the chorus:
Today today
You've become my wifey
Today today
O ma ba mi lole
Today today
We are one forever
Today today today today

Ada Ada by Flavour
Chai! I am not sure if any playlist can be truly Nigerian without this great song. It doesn’t even matter what tribe you are, the melody in itself screams love.

I think this is my ultimate Nigerian love song.
(I know I have said this before, I just love them all).

Lyrics to the chorus:
Ada Ada (Adanwa) – Daughter (a type of pet name)
Ada Ada (Chei Asanwa) – Daughter (Chai, beautiful girl)
Ada Ada (Hei Ada) – Daughter
Ada n'idi ora nma
– Daughter adored by everyone
Everybody dey wait
Puta kene na ogbo

Ife di m mma amaka
Better soup na money kill am o

Surrenda by Adekunle Gold

Tells a simple story of how you do not take the love you found/share for granted.

Lyrics to the chorus:
I surrender I surrender
(You don win o baby)
This your love dey make me wonder
(Wonder wonder)
From January to December
(I go spoil you my lady)
Take my heart hol am forever
(I surrender)
