Oyinkan and Yinka

Oyikan and Yinka got married recently in a beautiful garden ceremony followed by vintage inspired elegant reception at the Harbour Point in Victoria Island, Lagos. This like-minded couple met in the year 2003 when they both contested for the same position in their University student elections. Their big day took five months to plan with the help of wedding planning outfit, Tsoule.

The Proposal
"...Feb 19, 2011 (my birthday): My Dad told me that he needed me to help with some work at his office and he refused to consider the fact that it was a Saturday and my BIRTHDAY! LOL (little did I know that it was all part of a grand plan to get me out of the house. I drove my Dad to his office and he put me to work immediately!. Later in the afternoon, my Dad asked me to get the car because he was hungry and he wanted to go home, I was actually reluctant as I was engrossed in the work and didn't really want to leave but I went to get the car and drove him home. When we got home, I was about to put the car into the garage but because my Dad was on the phone I decided to do it later. As I stated to go round the house I heard a loud shout of SURPRISE and saw my friends running at me all wearing t-shirts with my picture and 'Happy Birthday'. I was super-excited especially as there were so many of them, the party was huge spread, with everywhere decorated, a DJ, several cakes and bouquets and lots to eat and drink!. It was a while before I actually saw Yinka (who had told me he would be stuck in Abuja with work stuff!). Anyway, I was happy and could not stop shouting and laughing (I had NO idea that there was MORE to come!!!)

After a while, I was told that we were going to play a game and that I had to be blindfolded! Well, I was thoroughly blindfolded and then I heard Yinka's voice faintly but I couldn't make out what he was saying. A friend started leading me downstairs and when my blindfold was removed, I saw a long line of my friend backing me, the letters on the back of their t-shirts spelled 'Oyinkan, Baby, Will you marry me?'. Then Yinka got on one knee and said 'Will you do me the honour of becoming my wife?' With some serious bling!. Needless to say, I said YES!..."

Anything else you'll like to share (tips for future brides....etc) – Pray hard! Don't sweat the small stuff; it's your day so make sure you add little touches that mean something to both of you. Lastly, SMILE!

What would you do differently if you could do it again?
Nothing, God was faithful to us!
