These days, no one takes a gift to the reception anymore as weddings have begun to evolve all around the world. A lot of couples now make use of registries for their gifts; as they get the opportunity to put up things they need.

A gift registry is essentially a list of items that newlyweds would want to be gifted. It is not only about physical gifts, some other things couples can look include gift cards, or experiences such as an adventure activity, a tour package or a Spa treatment.

However,  you should be reasonable with your requests when setting up a wedding registry.

Here are tips on how to set up your wedding registry.

Timing

When is the appropriate time to start setting up a gift registry you ask? We recommend that you start the process after your engagement before sending out invites to your wedding.

Seek assistance

Some websites are designed to help you compile the specific items you want to include in your registry, as well as the retailers to supply the items. Most registry websites also help keep a list of donors so that you can track them and show your appreciation.

Decide

Together with your partner, make a list of items you would want to be gifted. Create a checklist to help narrow down selections. Trusted platforms like Sugar Weddings & Parties and other websites can help with this.

Be Ambitious

Remember the goal is to not come across as greedy when selecting gifts for your registry, but if there is that product or experience that you would love to receive as a gift, do not be afraid to list it.

An extra generous friend might be willing or a group of friends may decide to collaborate to get you that gift.

Share

Do not forget to share your registry with friends and family alike. Include a link to your registry in your invitation cards (see why you should have a registry before invites go out?) or send the link via social messaging/e-mail.

With all of this, do not forget to not go overboard with your gift requests.
