As we bid farewell to our favorite weddings of 2016, you may be wondering which wedding trends are still in vogue and which have seen better days. According to Jung Lee of FETE NY, some flourishes have lost their luster.
Let the new year be a fresh start to planning your wedding—after all, the Pantone Color of the Year symbolizes rejuvenation. Whether you choose to incorporate new ideas or scale back to the basics, here are Lee’s suggestions for how to update popular wedding details in 2017.
Favors at the Table
Instead of presenting your wedding favors at the beginning of the reception, like at your guests’ settings, place them on a separate table by the exit for guests to grab as they leave the party. “Your favors should be a parting gift to your guests to acknowledge your appreciation for their support and for coming,” Lee says. Plus, it'll make everything so much simpler, logistically speaking.
Spandex-Covered Chairs
Ribbon, streamers or elegantly draped cloth are super-easy ways to customize your chairs, and way more elegant than using that stretchy spandex material.
Named Tables
“Avoid naming the tables, such as the Florence table and Venice table,” Lee says. “This trend makes the seating feel very divided.” Plus, when your tables are logically numbered, it’s much easier for guests (and you) to navigate the reception.
Artificial Color
When natural colors do the work, the result is always stunning. “In terms of décor, avoid using gel or paper vase filler for the floral arrangements,” Lee says. “Clean water is sufficient and looks best.” We couldn’t agree more, goodluck as you plan those beautiful weddings this year.
